LinkedIn just released their annual list of the top 25 U.S. Jobs on the Rise for 2023 and it's exciting to see that HR is well represented on the list! Not one, but multiple HR roles made the cut, with HR Analytics Manager at #2, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at #3, Employee Experience Manager at #5, Chief People Officer at #15, Sales Compensation/Benefits Manager at #19, and Head of Rewards at #21 (LinkedIn 2023).

I decided to dive a little deeper into HR/People Analytics hiring and found a website called Zippia that helps people learn about their career options. According to Zippia's database of 30 million profiles, there are over 235,134 HR Analysts currently working in the U.S. and the majority (70.9%) of them are women (Zippia 2021). In 2021, women earned 95% of what men earned. Asian HR Analysts held the highest average salary, at $70,175, while White, Hispanic or Latino, and Black or African American HR Analysts earned 95.1%, 93.7%, and 91.4% respectively (Zippia 2021).

It's great to see women dominating this field, but there doesn't seem to be much diversity in terms of race and ethnicity. I often find myself as the only person of color on my team and when I look at the larger HR/People Analytics community, it's mostly white and male dominated from a thought leader perspective. I hope that as this profession grows, I'll see more representation from people of color and that we'll start to have a more prominent presence in the thought leadership space. And of course, I hope to see equal pay for everyone.
